The recommender system developed by the
Research Studios Austria Forschungsgesellschaft was awarded the
IT Innovation Award for Best Austrian Product at CeBIT.
Hannover/Wien/Salzburg, 7.Mar 2011
To succeed at the world's largest trade fair for computers and IT
is a challenge. However, the level of innovation and
sophistication demonstrated by easyrec convinced the 100-member
jury made up of experts, professors and CIOs of the "Initiative
Mittelstand" (an initiative for small- and medium enterprises,
Ed.) to award the IT Innovation Award for this year's best
Austrian IT product at the CeBIT world fair to Research Studio
Smart Agent Technologies, headed by Dr. Erich Gstrein.
"easyrec"
was presented to hundreds of guests from the business world, the
ICT sector, as well as politics and science as a unique
recommender solution providing SMEs with outstanding innovation
value. The application can be downloaded freely at
Sourceforge, the world's leading platform for the publication of open source
software.
easyrec was assessed according to the criteria of innovation,
practical relevance and SME suitability, taking first place among
the Austrian products.
Erich Gstrein, Director of
Research Studio Smart Agent Technologies, is very pleased. There are two reasons why we are particularly
pleased about winning the CeBIT award: "1. It is rare for research
projects initiated at a university to take first place at the
world's best trade fair and win industry jury evaluations. 2. It
validates our business model. Our team at Studio SAT seeks to
transfer the results of our research and innovation from
universities to the market and to recoup funds via research-based
consulting. We are thus able to provide our partners, mostly SMEs
and e-business start-ups, with the greatest possible added-value
at the lowest risk!"
